Research Guides
HBLS’ specialized research guides, such as the Core Health Sciences Resources and Clinical Resources guides, gather and recommend essential library resources for research and clinical practice.
Other highly popular guides cover topics such as searching PubMed, determining research impact, using EndNote, and learning more about open access.
View all HBLS research guides for resources on topics ranging from biology, to global health, to neuroscience.
Literature Searching
Effective searching is essential for many types of projects, from narrative literature reviews to clinical care. HBLS librarians offer research consultations that are ideal for such goals as determining the feasibility of a research question, identifying relevant places to search, and constructing and refining search strategies. Use the HBLS Research Consultation Request Form to schedule an online or in-person meeting with a librarian.

Evidence Synthesis Service
For research projects that fall within the category of evidence synthesis, such as systematic and scoping reviews, HBLS provides an Evidence Synthesis Service (ESS). Faculty, staff, and other health sciences and medical researchers affiliated with Brown University (including residents, fellows, and clinical faculty of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University) are eligible to use the ESS. Visit the Evidence Synthesis Service page to learn more and request librarian support.
