Publishing and Presenting Research
HBLS librarians can help researchers with identifying potential journals for a manuscript, locating relevant reporting guidelines, curating and uploading supplemental data, and navigating copyright and image reuse questions. HBLS also advises on options for open access publishing and preserving authors’ rights.
The Library provides programming around scientific poster design designed to support undergraduates and new researchers.
Scholarly Identity
Numerous options exist for curating and promoting your research and scholarly identity. HBLS can assist in selecting and using the appropriate system, such as ORCiD, SciENCv, ResearcherID, and others, and help develop a workflow for you to maintain a consistent presence.

Research Impact
HBLS librarians help researchers, departments, centers, and administrators demonstrate research impact through citation-based metrics. This may include comparing institutional and field-based benchmarks, visualizing research collaborations, and highlighting alternative metrics such as social media mentions, news coverage, and guideline or policy influence. We also provide education and context to citation data to ensure they are being used appropriately and ethically.

Citation Management
Having an effective strategy to manage references is essential. Citation management tools can be used to organize sources, collect digital files such as full text PDFs, and generate citations automatically when writing papers. The Library supports two citation managers. One is EndNote, a subscription software product provided by Brown. The other is Zotero, a free open source software tool. The University offers unlimited full text PDF storage for Zotero users who include an @brown.edu email address in their account.
